Bio:

Citadels is set exactly two hundred years in the future. Following nuclear warfare during the 21st Century, the United States as we know it has collapsed and, in its ashes, a new civilization is emerging. Built on what used to be Boston, New Boston is the largest city in North America (and, quite possibly, the world). Originally empowered by the population's desire for a safe world much like the one they lost, the government turned into something akin to a police state over the years—complete with curfews and overzealous punishments for rule breakers. They—the officials, the judges, the police, and so forth—can get away with about anything these days, as population is still much too afraid of anything like WWIII happening again. The majority will follow most any decree as long as it is accompanied by the promise of safety. Admittedly, with other countries busy rebuilding their own cities, starting more wars is the last thing on everyone's mind, but mass panic has never been rational.

However, the threat of another war now pales in comparison to the crisis that the new world now faces. The population at large is unsure if they've always been around or if they've been created by the war, but the discovery of supernatural beings is on everybody's mind. Over the last five years, the knowledge of their existence has gone from mere rumors on the streets to the government actually addressing—and "handling"—the issue, sending out yet more forces to contain the threat and maintain order on the street. Prejudice, fear, and ignorance are rampant and tensions are high. It's becoming clearer than ever to those affected that the best way to survive in a human jungle is to keep their heads low and off of the police's radar, while still somehow maintaining a hold on their identities.
